It’s clear nowadays that the job title ‘phone sex operator’ is a real thing. People become phone sex operators in order to have a job that is flexible, makes them money, and is fun to do. Many people, especially women, love the word. Everyone from single moms to college students and even mature women can enjoy the perks of what it means to be a phone sex operator. At its core, it is still sex work which makes it vulnerable to scammers and people looking to take advantage. You should never go into a job with the feeling that there’s a chance it won’t end up fairly for you, when you are doing honest work. That’s why I wanted to write this article about tips on how to make sure you are entering the lucrative phone sex business in a way that is safe, fun, and beneficial to you at the end of the day! Here are ways to avoid scammers, and things you might not know that you should look out for when deciding to become a phone sex operator. Check out this list before deciding if you are the right kind of person to become a phone sex operator, and keep these tips in mind if you decide to apply!

Sign up with a legit phone sex business

If you want to get into the business of making the big bucks on a phone sex job, which is certainly possible, you are going to want to go about it the right way. That means working for a real phone sex company and not some random person you’ve met on a job posting board. Community boards, like Craigslist and otherwise, are full of scammers who see people who are interested in phone sex as vulnerable people they might be able to take advantage of. Make sure the company you are working for is legit, and not some random person you’ve met over the internet. This will drastically decrease your chances of getting scammed or working for less than minimum wage on the phone sex operator job.

Research

When you do find a company that interests you and you are excited to audition for them, make sure that they are legit and have happy workers by doing some online research. A simple internet search can lead you to reviews of former employees who will let you know what it is really like to work for the company you are interested in. If you see some bad reviews, dig even deeper. People usually don’t go out of their way to write bad reviews unless something was really awful. Use the internet to your advantage by seeing what past workers have to say about the job you are applying for.

Know how the process actually works

And if you don’t know, I am going to tell you! Ok, so when you decide on a company you want to work for, you will most likely be asked to audition. This is standard practice in the phone sex world. Note that most auditions, especially for women looking to work in the PSO field, are held by other women. Don’t fall prey to someone looking to get off on a free call with you under the guise of an audition. Make sure it’s a real audition. And furthermore, the signup process isn’t going to cost you anything. The only thing you could be asked is to buy a special phone sex phone, one that is not your cell number (this is for your own protection) and potentially a landline. Otherwise, you won’t be asked to pay for anything… so don’t spend your own money on this process! That is a red flag.

Be smart

Duh, right? Of course you want to be smart. What I really mean is don’t buy into everything you are told about this business. You might be told that you are going to rake in tons of cash during your first couple days on the job. That’s just not how it works. If it sounds like BS, it probably is. So, just be keen on the realities of the job. You’ll learn this in your audition, but I will tell you now as well, being a phone sex operator isn’t for everyone. You’ve got to have a thick skin, an open mind, acting abilities, and an active imagination. Don’t take the job if it’s not something that is going to make you happy! If you don’t have the skills for it, either acquire them or look for a job that is more suitable for your personality type or lifestyle.

Phone Sex Companies are full of Actors

One thing that should make your ears perk up is if they offer for you to speak to a former employee. Remember, this is someone in their network. They know it’s in their best interest to have you talk to them, so don’t trust everything that person says. She is likely an actor, she might even be getting paid to give a rave review in order to recruit people. Also be wary of listening in on some phone sex calls if that is offered to you. They are going to put their best foot forward and let you listen in on a prerecorded call with someone who is way enthusiastic and supportive of phone sex. Not every customer is as eager to spend that kind of money. Just make sure you are walking into this situation, again, with a smart outlook!
